Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Circuit Intermittent
¿Qué significa esto?
Code P0119 indicates the ECT sensor signal is fluctuating intermittently, causing erratic temperature readings.
Causas comunes
Sensor de temperatura del refrigerante (ECT) defectuoso
Arnés de cableado dañado o roto
Conector eléctrico corroído o suelto
Síntomas a tener en cuenta
- La luz de Check Engine está encendida
- Velocidad de ralentí errática o fluctuante
- Disminución del rendimiento de combustible
- RPM del motor fluctuante
Cómo Diagnosticar
Soluciones Comunes
**Replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor:** The most common cause for an intermittent ECT circuit code is an internal failure of the sensor itself. Over time, the thermistor inside the sensor can degrade, leading to erratic resistance readings, especially under varying temperatures or vibrations. Replacing the sensor with a high-quality OEM or equivalent part often resolves the P0119 code.
**Repair or Replace Damaged Wiring and Connectors:** Identify and repair any frayed, chafed, or broken wires within the ECT sensor circuit. This includes replacing the sensor connector if its terminals are corroded, spread, or damaged, ensuring a tight, clean, and secure electrical connection. Use heat-shrink butt connectors for durable repairs.
**Clean Corroded Electrical Connections:** Disconnect the ECT sensor and thoroughly clean any corrosion from the sensor connector terminals and the corresponding pins on the sensor itself. Use a specialized electrical contact cleaner and a small wire brush or pick. Apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to the terminals upon reassembly to prevent future corrosion and ensure a good seal.
